NYCN Kogi Central Holds Zonal Meeting, Endorses Gov Ododo’s Reelection
...Passes Vote of Confidence on State Chairman, Comr Enesi
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi Central Zone, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, held its zonal meeting at the Okene Local Government Secretariat, where it unanimously endorsed the re-election bid of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office.
Speaking during the meeting, the Vice Chairman (Central), Comr. Mamood Mohammed Avavome, said the reason for the endorsement were his support for the emergence of Amb. Babangida Onimisi Isah as the President of the NYCN, and his giant strides to make portable water available to the people of the state, where he even mandated the Commissioners to sink 3 boreholes in their respective local government areas.
Comr Mamood also conveyed the goodwill messages of the State Chairman and other key stakeholders from the zone who could not attend, and commended the Okehi Local Government Coordinator for mobilizing a large number of executives to the meeting.
Comr Mamood hailed governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing some of the local government executives, Samuel Isah (Treasure, Adavi), and Babatunde Samuel (Org. Secretary, Ogori/Magongo), into his cabinet as Senior Special Assistants.
The immediate past Vice Chairman (Central), Comr. Umar Bashiru (Camp Master), applauded the state government for the monthly subvention to local government coordinators and urged them to ensure judicious utilization of the funds for community-based projects.
“I’m happy with this development. I urge the Central Chairman and Coordinators to cooperate and ensure the continuity of this Zonal meeting. The Coordinators should also initiate impactful projects, be it environmental sanitation or health outreach,” he said.
Also present at the event, the immediate past Deputy Chairman of the Council, Comr. Sunday Osiako Ezekiel, commended the Coordinators for their support towards the success of the meeting. He emphasized the importance of unity among youths in Kogi Central and encouraged them to remain steadfast and optimistic about the future.
A key stakeholder from the zone, Comr. Salami Anataku, reminded participants that NYCN is not a profit-oriented organization. He advised coordinators to always carry their executives along in all council activities.
The Council also passed a vote of confidence on the State Chairman, Comr. Enesi Abdulmumuni, in recognition of his leadership and commitment to youth development.
Other speakers, including Comr. Sunday Adavize David and Comr. Amoka Douglas, charged the current coordinators to initiate programs that would complement the efforts of the state government.
At the end of the meeting, the following resolutions were adopted:
-Full support for the re-election of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
-The next Zonal Meeting will hold in Okehi Local Government Area.
-Creation of a unified communication platform (WhatsApp group) for members present.
-Organization of an inter-local government football competition tagged “NYCN Chairmanship Cup.”
-Partnership with the Office of the State Director of Entrepreneurship for youth empowerment programs.
-Befitting homecoming reception for the NYCN President, Comrade Babangida Onimisi Isah.
-Solicit support from political leaders, philanthropists, individuals in Kogi central and beyond to donate ICT equipment to enable Central NYCN open its zonal office and train Kogi central youths.

The meeting was well attended by former and current local government coordinators, as well as state executives of the Council from across Kogi Central.
