At the resumed hearing, the case could not come up on Wednesday as scheduled before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Apo, Resettlement.
It has since been adjourned until July 7, 2026 for further hearing.
In the charge, marked CR/335/2025 and dated 27th May, 2025, the police accused the suspects of murder of the student.
The charge filed by Wisdom Madaki Esq, of the Legal Prosecution Section of the Nigeria Police said the act was committed on February 13, 2025.
The charge leveled against the defendants read: “That you, Grace Okosun, 32years of 246 Jahi, behind Platinum Mall, Gwarimpa and Zainab Abdulmumin 28 years of Mab Global Estate Gwarinpa Extension on the 13th February, 2025, within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did conspire and commit offence to wit Culpable Homicide contrary section 96 and punishable under section 97 of the Penal code.
“That you Grace Okosun 32 years of No. 246 Jahi behind Platinum Mall Gwarinpa and Zainab Abdulmumin 28 years of Mab Global Estate Gwarinpa Extension on the13th day of February, 2025 within the Jurisdiction of this Honourable killed Zubeidat Isah at House three (3) Annex Hotel because you are suspecting her of dating Grace Okosun boyfriend Mr. Kelvin J. Donaldson and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 220 and punishable under 221 of the Penal code.
Similarly, in a petition to the Inspector-General of Police by a pressure group christened Egbira Voice Worldwide, it vowed to use all lawful means to get justice for the slain Zubeidat
Prince Raji Anas and Kenneth Enebe, President-General and General Secretary of the group in the signed petition, insisted the culprit in the alleged murder of the teenager must be brought to book.
“The employer, a suspect (Madam Grace Okosun) from Edo state was a beneficiary of Zubeidat’s mother’s magnanimity, according to narration and alleged confession by the suspect. Zubeidat’s mother had some time in the past to help the woman find a solution to his seven years old child who couldn’t talk ever since he was born. But the payback time was to pay the family with the opposite side of the coin.
“On that fateful day, February 13, 2025,late Zubeidat was observing her
off-day at home with her parents when her employer (Madam Grace’ Okosun) put a call to late Zubeidat telling her to come and help her for some work, being her boss, the mother allowed her to go but never came back till date. When Zubeidat’s non return home became a concern to the family a call was put across to the woman (suspect) but she vehemently denied her until when the pot became very hot that the woman agreed to have called her (Zubeidat) and confessed her involvement in the whereabout of her employee (Zubeidat) till date which according to the suspect, the heinous act was carried out at a hotel in Gwarimpa own by one Evelyn Ozabor.
“Despite her confession, the DPO (Babagana Galadima) of Gwarimpa Police division in charge of the case was making fortune from the suspect while trying to dismiss the family of the victim in favour of the suspect on the strength that nobody to fight for the victim’s parents.
“Paradoxically, the case was moved to the SARS office at abattoir for unbiased and transparent investigation. From here, the suspect and all other accomplices were apprehended and undergoing interrogation.” The group said in the petition,” they said.
