The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area election, Hon. Sunday Ezekiel Osiako, has appealed to the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA) to urgently intervene and provide relief to residents affected by a devastating rainstorm in Ogori.Hon. Osiako made the appeal following reports of widespread destruction across several parts of the community, leaving many families homeless and properties severely damaged.
Findings revealed that the rainstorm wreaked havoc in areas including Okesi, Ileteju, and Aiyeromi streets, where several houses had their roofs blown off, while others suffered partial structural damage and collapsed fences.Describing the situation as distressing, Hon. Osiako urged KOSEMA and other relevant agencies to swiftly assess the extent of the damage and provide relief materials to cushion the hardship faced by victims.
He also called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to support affected residents, emphasizing the need for collective action to alleviate their suffering.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, and a Director in the agency, Mr. Sunday Siyak Salami, who received Hon. Osiako, assured him of the agency’s continued commitment to the welfare of citizens and pledged to work with relevant authorities to ensure timely intervention.“We have deployed a team to assess the level of damage, and we are swiftly moving into action,” Alhaji Mouktar stated.
