Alhaji Mukaila Rufai, the Ratibi Imam of Ogori Central Mosque, has commended Hon. Sunday Ezekiel Osiako, the APC Chairmanship Candidate of Ogori Magongo Local Government Area in Kogi State, for what he described as a historic and unifying gesture.
The Imam made this known following Hon. Osiako’s participation in Iftar (the breaking of the Ramadan fast) with Muslims at the Ogori Central Mosque. According to him, this marks the first time such an event has taken place since the creation of the local government in 1996, despite previous Executive Chairmen also being Christians.
Alhaji Rufai emphasized that Hon. Osiako’s action sends a strong message of unity and religious tolerance, demonstrating that Muslims and Christians can coexist peacefully and support one another. He noted that such acts of solidarity are vital for strengthening harmony and fostering mutual respect among diverse religious communities.
Describing the current fasting season as unique and divinely ordained, the Imam pointed out that both Muslims and Christians commenced their fasting on the same day this year, an occurrence he believes symbolizes togetherness and spiritual alignment between the two faiths.
He extended his best wishes to Muslims for a successful Ramadan and a joyful Barka de Salah celebration, while also congratulating Christians ahead of the Easter festivities.
Alhaji Rufai concluded by offering prayers for peace, unity, and continued development in Ogori Magongo LGA, Kogi State, and Nigeria at large, urging citizens to embrace love, tolerance, and collective progress.
