Following the calls and presentation of Expression of Interest (EOI) and nomination forms to former governor Yahaya Bello to contest the Kogi Central Senatorial seat, thousands of women under the aegis of the Fair Win Women Advancement Association (FAWWASS) in Kogi Central Senatorial District, on Sunday, staged a massive solidarity walk and appreciation rally in support of governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The women marched through major streets, converging at the Okene Local Government Secretariat, displaying placards with various inscriptions and singing solidarity songs to reaffirm their support for the current administration and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the senatorial election draws near.
Speaking during the rally, the President of the group, Hon. Bilikisu Aliyu, said the exercise was aimed at expressing gratitude to former Governor Yahaya Bello for his impactful leadership and to assure him of the support of Kogi Central women in the forthcoming senatorial election.
She highlighted key achievements of the former governor, including the construction of roads and bridges, as well as the renovation and upgrade of educational and healthcare facilities across the state.
According to her, these strides have earned both national and international recognition.
Hon. Bilikisu called on the people of Kogi Central to reciprocate these developmental efforts by supporting Yahaya Bello at the polls. She noted that despite attempts by some opposition elements to discredit his administration through misinformation and propaganda, the people of Kogi State remain united in their support.
While urging individuals portraying the state in a negative light to desist, she emphasized the need for unity and collective effort in advancing the development of Kogi State.
She further assured that more developmental projects are in the pipeline and appealed to all Kogites to continue supporting the present administration.
The event also featured special prayers for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
