Ohi of Okene Commends Ododo, Calls for Wider Support for Government Policies

The Ohi of Okene, His Royal Highness Alhaji Isah Mamman Okatahi, has called on the people of Kogi Central to continue to support government policies aimed at improving development in the area.

He made the call during the Radio Kogi Otite Family Programme held at Okeneba, in Okene Local Government Area.

Addressing the gathering, the royal father urged citizens not to always rely solely on government intervention, stressing that individuals also have a responsibility to contribute their quota to the growth and progress of their communities.

He said, “I always laugh when people say government is not doing this or government is not doing that. You and I are the government we are always accusing".

"Even the big public buildings you see, it is the people working inside that are the government, not the buildings. So we must all trust God and rise to our responsibilities.”

He further appealed to communities across Ebiraland to adopt life chairmen and presidents for community leadership, noting that frequent changes in leadership structures sometimes hinder meaningful development.

The Ohi expressed displeasure over the increasing practice of zoning and tenure-based arrangements in community leadership, advising that leadership positions should be based on merit, respect, and dedication to service.

He also encouraged Ebira parents to give native names to their children as a way of preserving the rich cultural heritage and identity of the people.

While calling on Radio Kogi to continue to promote government policies and ensure that people are up to date with government programmes and activities, the Ohi commended the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo–led administration in the state and called for collective support for his administration.
