As the year 2025 winds down and preparations begin for the New Year, the Special Adviser to the Wife of Kogi State Governor on Domestic Affairs, Hon. Aliyu Ohunene Nana has carried out a women-focused empowerment programme for the Agassa/Ateba community, reaffirming Kogi State government's commitment to inclusive support and grassroots development.
The empowerment initiative was carried out on behalf of the Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Her Excellency, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, as part of her end-of-year outreach and renewed hope message to citizens across the state.
Speaking during the programme held in Agassa, Okene L.G.A., the Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, Office of the First Lady, Hon. Aliyu Ohunene Nana, explained that the empowerment was a reflection of Mrs Ododo’s compassion and her resolve to ensure that women and vulnerable groups are not left behind, especially as families prepare for a new year.
She noted that the intervention was aimed at easing economic hardship, strengthening household resilience, and encouraging self-reliance among women, widows, petty traders, the elderly, and persons with special needs within the Agassa/Ateba community.
Items distributed during the exercise included foodstuffs and cash support to beneficiaries, providing timely relief as the year draws to a close.
Hon. Nana emphasised that the empowerment was not just a gesture of support, but a deliberate effort by Her Excellency to stand with the people at a critical time and inspire hope for a more prosperous 2026.
On behalf of the First Lady, she encouraged beneficiaries to use the items and funds judiciously, stressing that true empowerment is achieved when support translates into improved livelihoods and sustainable independence.
The Special Adviser reassured the community that similar interventions would continue across other parts of the state through her office and associated initiatives.
Community leaders and beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo for the timely intervention, describing it as a source of encouragement and relief for many households. They offered prayers for God’s continued guidance, strength, and wisdom for the First Lady as she sustains her humanitarian and empowerment-driven engagements.
The event also featured special prayers for the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and the continued peace, progress, and development of Kogi State as the state looks forward to the New Year 2026.
