High Chief Adesina Meka Sylvanus Grants Students Scholarships, Donates Educational Materials
High Chief Adesina Meka Sylvanus has awarded scholarships to outstanding school children in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area in recognition of their academic excellence and commitment to learning. In addition, he donated a wide range of educational materials to further support effective teaching and learning in the area.
Speaking at the event, Chief Meka explained that every child deserves access to quality education regardless of their social background, describing education as a vital tool for shaping the future. He noted that the initiative was aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents while promoting quality education across the LGA.
As part of the gesture, hundreds of school children benefited from essential learning materials, including exercise books, pens, pencils, school bags, and lesson notes for teachers.
Representing Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones commended Chief Meka for the intervention. He encouraged well to do individual to actively contribute to the educational development of children and to promote a culture of learning. He further stressed that education remains the bedrock of sustainable development, praising Chief Meka for complementing government efforts in the sector.
The beneficiaries expressed joy and appreciation for the support, pledging to make the most of the scholarships and learning materials to enhance their studies.
Other dignitaries present at the event included the Commissioner for Urban and Rural Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika; Commissioner for Works and Housing, Hon. Mohammed Ahovi; and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Abdulmalik Abdullahi, among others.
