Kogi AG, Habibat-Oyiza Urges Women, Youth to Actively Participate in Politics, Join APC

The Accountant General of Kogi State, Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko, has called for greater participation of women and youths in politics, towards inclusive governance, economic empowerment, and national development.

Dr. Habibat made the call in Okene while receiving several union leaders and political groups, including the Police Officers’ Wives Association.
She urged women to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing it as the first and most critical step in exercising their civic rights and choosing leaders of their choice. According to her, the ongoing 2025 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) provides an opportunity for new registrants, those seeking to transfer their registration, as well as individuals who have lost or damaged their PVCs, to be duly captured.

The CVR exercise is not just a routine process, but a vital step in ensuring that our voices as women are heard. We must be strategic, united, and forward-thinking in our pursuit of political and economic empowerment,” she said.

The Accountant General expressed optimism about the opportunities that lie ahead for women in Kogi State under the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, whom she commended for his commitment to gender equity and inclusive governance.
She described Governor Ododo as a visionary leader whose people-centered policies have continued to open doors for women and youths to occupy strategic positions in government, thereby inspiring confidence among women across the state.
Dr. Habibat further encouraged women and youth to take active roles in governance by joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), assuring them that the party remains a platform that promotes inclusiveness, growth, and opportunity for all.
