Democracy is Working in Kogi State, Accountant-General Declares as Governor Ododo Presents Official Vehicles to LG Chairmen
The symbolic event held at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja, and was attended by top government officials, political stakeholders, socio-political groups and traditional rulers.
Speaking with Radio Kogi correspondents and other media outlets in the state, Dr Habibat Oyiza emphasized that the gesture was not just a show of support, but a demonstration of the present administration's commitment to strengthening local governance and ensuring effective service delivery at the grassroots.
She said,
“This administration is passionate about bringing governance closer to the people, and our Local Government Chairmen are key players in achieving this goal."
"These vehicles are tools for service, not luxuries. Tools for reaching our people, assessing their needs, and delivering results.” the statement added.
While commending governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his proactiveness, the Accountant General described the presentation as a clear sign that democracy is thriving in the state.
“Democracy is not about promises, it’s about action. What we’re witnessing today is a reflection of Governor Ododo’s people-centered leadership. It is proof that genuine governance is working at all levels in the state” she stated.
She used the occasion to also urged local government Chairmen to take full responsibility for their domains and implement effective security measures that will complement the present administration's efforts in ensuring security.
Several Local Government Chairmen expressed gratitude to the Governor, promising to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving their people with greater dedication.
This development marks yet another milestone in less than two years of Ododo-led administration’s effort to deepen democratic values, enhance rural development, and promote inclusive governance across the state.
