Ododo Sustaining, Expanding His Predecessor's Development Agenda in Health, Education – Kogi AG

Kogi State Accountant General, Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko, has stated that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is not only sustaining but also expanding the developmental agenda of his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Bello, particularly in the critical sectors of health and education.

Speaking with journalists, Dr. Habibat Oyiza said Ododo's administration has remained steadfast in its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and improving educational standards across Kogi State, while consolidating on the achievements of the immediate past administration.

According to her, Governor Ododo has shown political will by investing in quality healthcare through the upgrading of health facilities, recruitment of medical personnel, expansion of access to healthcare services, and revitalisation of primary healthcare centres across the state.

She highlighted several landmark achievements of the administration in the health sector, including the introduction of free health insurance for civil servants, pensioners, market women and students. She also noted that the governor approved a special monthly allowance for state-employed doctors to curb the migration of medical professionals, while over 80 revitalised Primary Health Care (PHC) centres have been commissioned to provide round-the-clock healthcare services in communities.

On education, the Accountant General said Governor Ododo has sustained massive investments through the construction and renovation of schools, provision of modern teaching and learning facilities, continuous capacity building for teachers, and implementation of policies that guarantee access to quality education for every child.

"Under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's visionary leadership, Kogi State has witnessed a transformation in its educational sector. His administration has introduced practical and deliberate reforms aimed at revitalising the sector and ensuring that every child has access to quality education," she said.

Dr. Habibat Oyiza explained that the administration has increased funding for educational institutions, expanded infrastructure, and supplied instructional materials to improve learning outcomes across the state.

She further stated that the government has continued to sustain the state's free education policy by paying WAEC and other internal examination fees for students, ensuring prompt payment of salaries to teachers at both the state and local government levels, and maintaining regular payment of pensions and gratuities to retired teachers.

According to her, another significant milestone is the planned renovation of more than 700 schools across Kogi State under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project, which is expected to further strengthen the state's educational system.

The Accountant General described Governor Ododo's leadership as a symbol of responsible governance, noting that continuity in government has allowed developmental programmes initiated by the previous administration to flourish and deliver greater benefits to the people.

She commended Governor Ododo for building on the solid foundation laid by former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, stressing that the administration's sustained investments in health and education are already translating into improved living standards and better opportunities for Kogi residents.

Dr. Habibat Oyiza called on the people of Kogi State to continue supporting the administration, expressing confidence that Governor Ododo would sustain his people-oriented policies and deliver even greater dividends of democracy across the state.
