Heal the World Foundation Marks World Environment Day 2026 with Community Clean-Up Campaigns Across Nigeria Supported by Kogi State ACReSAL
Theme: "Inspired by Nature for Climate, for Our Future"
The Heal the World Foundation for Ecological Protection (HTWFEP) successfully commemorated World Environment Day 2026 through environmental sanitation and community clean-up activities across Kogi, Kano, and Kwara States, promoting environmental sustainability, public health, and climate action.
In Kogi State, activities were led by Mrs. Zainab Usman Hamidu, a lecturer at Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara and representative of Kogi State ACReSAL, while Comrade Onono Onimisi, Vice President of Bayero University Kano, coordinated activities in Kano State. The events were held at DAM Foundation Centres, bringing together sports enthusiasts, volunteers, and community members to participate in environmental sanitation and awareness campaigns.
As part of the initiative, Heal the world donated waste management equipment and educational frames on Sports and Environment to DAM Foundation to support environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
In Kwara State, the Foundation partnered with TRIBE Female Founders to organize a women-led clean-up campaign coordinated by Esther Adedeji, highlighting the important role of women in environmental protection and climate action.
Heal the world appreciates the support of Kogi State ACReSAL, Barrister Ladi Ahmed Jatto OON, Project Coordinator Kogi State ACReSAL. Mrs. Zainab Usman Hamidu, Comrade Onono Onimisi, TRIBE Female Founders, Esther Adedeji, Ambassador Bash of DAM Foundation, NTA Okene, and all volunteers and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the activities.
The Foundation reiterates that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and calls on individuals, communities, and institutions to continue taking action toward a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
Speaking on the significance of the celebration, the President of Heal the World Foundation for Ecological Protection, Jerry Beckham Adinoyi Azeez, emphasized the need for stronger grassroots environmental education and increased government support for environmental protection initiatives.
