Statewide Rehabilitation and Economic Empowerment Initiative by the First Lady of Kogi State
I am pleased to formally inform the good citizens of Kogi State of an impactful, statewide intervention approved by Her Excellency, the First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Ododo.
Her Excellency has graciously approved the rehabilitation of two (2) individuals per Local Government Area, across all twenty-one (21) LGAs of Kogi State, who are suffering from drug abuse and associated mental health conditions requiring institutionalized care.
This intervention will cover a total of forty-two (42) beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries will undergo a three-month comprehensive institutional rehabilitation program at the Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA) Specialist Rehabilitation Centres, Abuja, where structured, evidence-based addiction treatment and mental health services will be provided.
Following successful completion of the rehabilitation program, Her Excellency, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, has further approved a post-rehabilitation economic empowerment package for the beneficiaries. This is aimed at supporting sustainable recovery, reintegration, self-reliance, and dignity of life while reducing the risk of relapse.
This institution based care effort is to compliment the ongoing Community Based Drug Rehabilitation Program across the state.
This holistic intervention demonstrates Her Excellency’s strong commitment to:
1. Mental health care and substance abuse treatment
2. Social reintegration and recovery-focused interventions
3. Sustainable empowerment of vulnerable persons across Kogi State
