The Ebira Cultural Funfare is a programme aimed at showcasing the creative prowess of the typical Anebira person, highlighting their skills in hunting, farming and weaving. The Anebira people are celebrated for their industrious nature and innovative spirit.
At the festival, women showcased their culinary expertise by preparing a variety of dishes, including garden egg soup with cow skin and bean cake. The event also featured the production of handicrafts such as hats and baskets from palmfronts, palm kernel oil extraction and traditional clothing. The festival contributes significantly to the rich cultural heritage of Anebira and drew attendees from various parts of the state. People from Ajaokuta, Ogori Magongo, Okehi, Adavi and Okene gathered to share ideas and celebrate the revival of Ebiraland's cultural values.
Hon Tijani Bello expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Accountant General, Dr Habibat Oyiza Tijani, for bringing this vision to fruition. He noted her dedication to enhancing the state's cultural landscape and urged the sons and daughters of Ebiraland to invest in their cultural heritage. Failure to do so, he warned, would be a disservice to future generations.
The festival drew a diverse crowd, including government officials, local leaders, special advisers, special assistants, hunters, dancers, storytellers and craftsmen. It began at Okene Eba and ended at the Ohinoyi's palace.
