Kogi Accountant-General Witnesses the Turbaning of Odeyi, Odovidi, and Orewa of Hausa/Fulani Community in Ebiraland
The Accountant-General of Kogi State, Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijani Onumoko, on Sunday, joined dignitaries and community leaders at the turbaning ceremony of the Odeyi, Odovidi, and Orewa of the Hausa/Fulani Community in Kogi Central, held in the place of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM Alh. Ahmed Tijani Muhammad Anaje, in Okene.
In her remarks, Dr. Habibat described the occasion as a historic and unifying cultural heritage that reinforces peace and mutual respect among the diverse ethnic groups in Kogi State.
She congratulated the newly turbaned Hausa and Fulani leaders, urging them to use their positions to promote peace and strengthen the bond of brotherhood across communities.
"This turbaning is a call to leadership, responsibility, and service to humanity. I am confident that all of you will uphold the values of fairness, inclusiveness, and peace, which are the foundations of sustainable community growth,” she stated.
Dr. Habibat further reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting cultural institutions, stressing that traditional leadership remains a vital partner in grassroots development and the promotion of peaceful coexistence.
In their separate remarks, the newly honored Hausa/Fulani leaders, and the new Odeyi Ojahe Ugama of Ebiraland, Chief Emmanuel Rufus, expressed gratitude to the Accountant-General and other dignitaries for honoring the occasion. They pledged to work with government and the Palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland to advance unity, preserve cultural identity, and support socio-economic development of Kogi State.
