Inclusive Governance: Dr. Abdulfatai Usman Praises Ododo’s Disability Empowerment Drive

Kogi State is steadily gaining recognition for its inclusive governance under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Ododo's commitment to the welfare of persons living with disabilities continues to inspire hope and set new standards for compassionate leadership.
The recent presentation of mobility scooters and cash support to persons living with disabilities, carried out by the Governor alongside his wife, Her Excellency Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, is a profound demonstration of empathy and purposeful governance.

Over 500 persons with disabilities received mobility aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, and walking sticks.

Financial support was disbursed to beneficiaries to help improve their livelihoods.

Additional care items like sunscreen for persons with albinism were also distributed.
The visible presence of governor Ahmed Usman Ododo at the event signaled strong government endorsement of the program powered by the office of the First Lady’s through Ohunene Empowerment Initiative.

This thoughtful intervention is poised to significantly improve mobility, independence, and overall quality of life for beneficiaries.
The laudable initiative aligns seamlessly with the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018, which upholds the rights of persons with disabilities to equal opportunities, dignity, and accessibility across all sectors of society.
I commend Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his tireless dedication to promoting inclusivity and safeguarding the welfare of persons living with disabilities in Kogi State. His leadership exemplifies what it truly means to govern with compassion, fairness, and vision.

The active involvement of the First Lady is particularly commendable, affirming the power of partnership in advancing disability rights and social inclusion.

Her support reinforces the message that inclusivity is not the responsibility of government alone but a shared societal obligation.

Kogi State has, through this initiative, set a commendable precedent for other states to emulate, demonstrating that inclusive governance is both achievable and impactful.
